Tororo, here we come!
Our stay in Kampala has been wonderful and our team will be heading out to Tororo early in the morning tomorrow. The drive non-stop takes about 3 hours, but we'll be traveling via a post bus, so we'll have a few stops along the way and that extends our trip to around 5-6 hours! hahaha, but we're excited nonetheless :]
We had the privilege of worshipping at a local church in Kampala today and it was so amazing to see how God is working here in Uganda. I can't say this enough, but the people here are so welcoming it continues to blow me away!
We learned a lot more about Smile Africa and Tororo yesterday during our orientation, so it's nice to finally be able to get a better picture of what we'll be doing during our time here. But there's still much more to learn and see once we're actually in Tororo. The area is more rural than I thought it would be, so it'll be an interesting experience. But God is good, and we know he will provide through whatever circumstances that may come our way.
While learning about Smile, I found out that I will be facing one of my biggest fears.. o__O;; wahhh! So personally, I know I will be stretched during this trip.
Prayer requests:
- For courage when dealing with my fears
- For cultural sensitivity (especially when working with the males in Tororo)
- For physical health and protection while serving in an area of many illnesses and diseases
- For the team to always set Christ as our example while serving and loving the people here in Uganda
"Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. trust in him at all times, O people; pour our your hearts to him, for God is our refuge... One thing God has spoken, two things I have heard: that you, O God, are strong, and that you, O Lord, are loving. Surely you will reward each person according to what he has done." - Psalm 62: 5-8; 11-12
